A crossword puzzle for $10
The Crossword Puzzle Company is offering a $10,000 prize to the person who solves the puzzle that could help solve the city’s traffic jam.
The puzzle involves a crossword that reads, “How long will it take to drive from the west to the east?”
The clue to the puzzle was published online Friday and is being offered by the company in its weekly newsletter.
The company said it would use the prize to help fund a traffic-signal system and an outreach program to make sure the community has access to the road.
It said the clue will be on display at a special event at the city of Phoenix on June 16.
The city of Tempe also said in a news release Friday that the clue was submitted by a person from outside of the region.
The clue includes four symbols and is on display in the center of the crossword.
It reads, in part: …
I was just in the last of a large family.
I got to spend a few weeks at a hotel near our house, but the rest of the trip was a short stay.
As I passed by, the next day, I noticed an empty car in front of us, and I thought to myself, ‘That’s odd,’ so I took it in.
After driving a few miles, I realized it was a police car, and it wasn’t just a vehicle from another state.
As we were pulling out of the parking lot, the officer asked, ‘Are you the one who wrote that clue?’
I said yes.
He asked, “Why?”
I said, “It looks like a clue from a book, and that’s the last clue I wrote.”
I was shocked and felt really sad.
It was just one of those things that’s not going to happen again.
Tempe police said the officer said, ‘What’s that crossword for?’
I answered it with, ‘The next puzzle, I hope you’ll have a clue for it.’
He replied, ‘Then you’ll be able to find the next clue.’
I told him that was just a coincidence.
The officer said he did it for a friend, and the crosswords are a good source of motivation.
I think it’s really interesting to see the community respond to this.
